Cicada

Shortly after recording this, I got blissfully lost in the park, and had to walk quite a bit further than intended to get around a river. With a smile.

What did you use to record that? Sounds fantastic (and also beautiful).

Thanks Jordan!
I used the Edirol R-09HR with it’s built in mics. The low-cut on the device is engaged, and I did tweaked a bit more EQ to roll off the lows: (burbling of the wind).
I’m LOVING having this thing in my pocket.

I’m thinking of soon getting the M-Audio Microtrak II. From everything I’ve heard (haha) it’s either that or the same Edirol you have.
Either way, I definitely want to get one.

I had narrowed it down to the Edirol or a model by Olympus (that’s what the sales guy was really pushing.) I found an awesome forum for bootleggers, and they discussed how the Olympus has a nasty roll off at 200 Hz that you can’t switch off. It’s a mic for interviews, not sound design.
And… M-Audio…. I own some M-Audio. I’m trying to branch out.
So far, I LOVE this thing. I tracked some acoustic guitar last night, it sounds fantastic.
